ALL ABOUT US

Gregory Carson Engineering was established in 2014 as an independent Metallurgical Research & Technology Organization (RTO) with the objective of bridging the gap between academia and industry – often referred to as ‘the valley of death’. It represents one of the smallest players in one of the largest industry/public sector investments manufacturing. After years of planning, GCE was born, and has been on an upward trajectory. Over the past 5 years, GCE can attest to rapid growth in the researches it has carried out, and has seen an increase in possibilities. We have focused on ensuring protection of the environment, while focusing on researching ways of improving returns in the industry. One of our catch phrases has been ‘For the sake of the environment’. We believe strongly in charging forward, but not without considering the consequences. Thus, we have paid attention to, and employed techniques that include recycling, ensuring cleaner air, and finding the most efficient remedies. We pride ourselves as an innovative, forward-thinking and exemplary outfit.

OUR VISION

Our clear vision is to inspire the manufacturing industry, on the global stage We wish to provide integrated manufacturing system solutions for customers large and small, across sectors as diverse as automotive, aerospace, rail, informatics, food & drink, construction/civil engineering, electronics, oil & gas and defense.

OUR COMMITMENTS
  • Value creation: We are committed to the sustainable and profitable development of GCE. This is a prerequisite for our long-term competitiveness, for safeguarding our future, and for creating value for the company.
  • Excellence: We are committed to achieving market-leading positions in each of our business activities and to constantly improving products and processes. Excellence in metallurgy is the reason we will be seen as our stakeholders’ preferred supplier, customer, employer and partner.
  • Respect and trust: We are committed to honest, direct and fair relations with everyone we will have dealings with. Mutual trust and respect are essential prerequisites for successful long-term partnerships. Environmental protection is a process of continual improvement

Environmental protection is a process of continual improvement. We comply with applicable laws regarding environment protection.-We comply with universally accepted environmental management standards.-We strive to keep the environmental impact of our activities down to an absolute minimum. In areas such as resource use and waste management, there are obvious synergies between environmental responsibility and economic efficiency.

OUR SERVICES
Manufacturing system solutions

From our extensive experience across a range of industry sectors, GCE understands these challenges and the pressures faced by manufacturers.

We use our expertise to work hand-in-hand with you, developing manufacturing system solutions to solve your challenges for the short and longer term. You are the reason we spend so much time researching, in a bid to find innovative solutions.

GCE blends a range of services and world-leading technologies to provide a holistic approach, delivering the most progressive, productive outcome for your business.

We are passionate about developing tomorrow’s industrial solutions and deploying new technologies on to the factory floor today.

We will always aim to:

  • Improve your productivity
  • Reduce your costs
  • Embed innovative new technologies
  • De-risk the use of new technologies in your workplace
  • Ultimately help to accelerate your company's industrial growth

OUR TECHNICAL SOLUTIONS

The majority of our customers’ challenges, whether an SME or OEM, fall into one of the following three categories:

  • They want to make something
  • They want to assemble something
  • They want to use data more effectively for Manufacturing system solutions

OUR TECHNOLOGIES

Delivering ground-breaking solutions from core manufacturing techniques, through to embedding and implementing the future technologies that will be integral elements of the Fourth Industrial Revolution:

1) Metrology & NDT

Developing and applying the next generation of metrology and non-destructive testing (NDT).

Metrology & Non-destructive Testing develops and applies technology solutions for process and product quality for multiple sectors including aerospace, power generation, defense, rail and infrastructure. We have access to world class monitoring and inspection capability, both on-site and through our members.

Metrology and Non-destructive Testing has the following offerings:

  • Support to industry for the development and implementation of quality control plans –for both new and existing manufacturing processes.
  • Independent review, selection and validation of monitoring and inspection systems – both hardware and software.
  • They want to use data more effectively for Manufacturing system solutions.
  • Reverse engineering.

Metrology & Non-destructive Testing carries out strategic research in the following areas:

  • Monitoring and inspection for advanced manufacturing processes, including net shape and additive manufacturing.
  • Computer Aided Quality: Development and integration of digital tools and processes for quality, including data management, simulation and optimization.
  • Automated Inspection: Automation of inspection planning, execution and data analysis for applications including dimensional metrology, non-destructive testing and automated visual inspection.

Our research is highly multi-disciplinary. It is carried out extensively, with the most viable outcome in mind.

2) Component Manufacturing Systems

Net Shape Manufacturing (including friction welding), Additive Manufacturing, Powder Management and Advanced Material Processing (including fusion welding and non-conventional machining)

This area creates cutting edge innovations to achieve robust production ready solutions to industry.

This includes additive manufacturing, high integrity fabrication and non-conventional machining.

IN ADDITION

Our strategy directs investment choices so that we can translate our world class science and technology as efficiently as possible to solve our customers’ complex problems and tackle major global challenges: the need for clean air, improved returns, customer satisfaction and the most efficient use of our planet’s natural resources.

GCE encourages the chemical and thermo-mechanical processing of returned materials and production waste, by recycling. But the environment is not the only consideration. There are also good economic reasons for re-using these so-called "secondary raw materials":

  • Security of supply.
  • Careful use of natural resources

WHAT OUR STRATEGY DELIVERS

Our strategy directs investment choices so that we can translate our world class science and technology as efficiently as possible to solve our customers’ complex problems and tackle major global challenges: the need for clean air, improved returns, customer satisfaction and the most efficient use of our planet’s natural resources.

Our strategy will deliver sustained growth and value creation through:

  • Investment in science and technology which accelerates growth and creates leadership.
  • Serving customers in growing, high margin, technology driven markets, aligned to global challenges.
  • Operating with a relentless focus on efficiency and excellence; maximising synergies and driving standard processes and ways of working.

INDUSTRIAL DISTRIBUTION

Adopting the "4 sectors, 8 types of business" approach, we aim to create new advantages based on superior abilities. The 4 sectors are, metallurgical scientific research, survey, design and construction. Working with these sectors in mind, we will partner with clients to ensure a better advantage in:

  1. Basic metallurgical engineering
  2. High end housing construction
  3. Mine construction and development
  4. Mid and low end real estate
  5. Municipal traffic infrastructure
  6. Core technology equipment
  7. Environment engineering and new energy
  8. Special subjects projects
